Lafayette principal moves to LaSalle II

By Jenny Turner, president, La Salle II LSC

The LaSalle II Local School Council is pleased to inform you that after a vigilant search the Principal Selection Committee has successfully identified our new LaSalle II Magnet School principal.

We are delighted to announce that Lauren Albani will be joining us in June to assume leadership of our school. Albani is a highly qualified and experienced elementary school teacher and principal, and is currently principal of Lafayette Elementary, 2714 W. Augusta Blvd. Her professionalism, dedication and knowledge made her standout during the selection process.

We feel confident that Albani and assistant principal Bridget Malinowski will offer LaSalle II a highly talented administrative team ensuring sustainability of academic excellence and the emotional health of our children. We expect our state and systemwide outcomes to soar higher.

I would like to thank each member of the Principal Selection Committee for all of their hard work, late nights and dedication as well as the teachers, staff and parents for your encouragement and support throughout this process. A million thanks to Malinowski and interim principal Colette Unger-Teasley for not missing a step and running the school flawlessly during this process. We could not have done this without any of you.

Finally, the LSC invites everyone to partner in excellence with our new principal and we thank you for giving her the opportunity to demonstrate her capabilities.

Suzanne Velasquez-Sheehy resigned as principal in January to start 5 new Intrinsic Schools charters.

Come welcome LaSalle II's new principal at meet-and-greet sessions May 29 at 8am or 6pm at the school, 1148 N. Honore St.
