New businesses open on Chicago Avenue

EVA members voted in new officers, passed a resolution in support of lifting a liquor moratorium on Chicago Avenue and heard from the owner of a new neighborhood business.

New businesses on Chicago Avenue, Passages Wine and Books, 1911 W. Chicago Ave., and The Happy Hour Shop, 1919 W. Chicago Ave., are requesting a lift of the liquor moratorium on Chicago Avenue to apply for incidental liquor licenses. After researching and discussing, EVA members voted to pass a resolution in favor of lifting the moratorium for one year. Both businesses will follow up with the Chicagp Grand Neighhbors Association for their recommendation before Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36th Ward) will bring the request to the City Council.

Nikola Scepanovic joined EVA to excite members about a new neighborhood business, Altar Home, at 1858 W. Chicago Ave. Altar Home is a home goods shop sourcing items and packaged goods internationally with a coffee shop in the back serving Metric Coffee. Altar Home is aiming for an April 15 opening.

Ald. Villegas gets to know East Village
