EVA members voted in new officers, passed a resolution in support of lifting a liquor moratorium on Chicago Avenue and heard from the owner of a new neighborhood business.

EVA is excited to welcome our 2024 fiscal board!

  • President: Jenifer Goldsmith
  • Vice President: Christina Slaton
  • Interim Secretary: Neal McKnight
  • Treasurer: Bob Zwolinski

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the EVA board, we are still looking to fill the position of secretary. Please reach out to any board member to inquire. We also welcome your ideas and suggestions.

New businesses on Chicago Avenue, Passages Wine and Books, 1911 W. Chicago Ave., and The Happy Hour Shop, 1919 W. Chicago Ave., are requesting a lift of the liquor moratorium on Chicago Avenue to apply for incidental liquor licenses. After researching and discussing, EVA members voted to pass a resolution in favor of lifting the moratorium for one year. Both businesses will follow up with the Chicagp Grand Neighhbors Association for their recommendation before Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36th Ward) will bring the request to the City Council.

Nikola Scepanovic joined EVA to excite members about a new neighborhood business, Altar Home, at 1858 W. Chicago Ave. Altar Home is a home goods shop sourcing items and packaged goods internationally with a coffee shop in the back serving Metric Coffee. Altar Home is aiming for an April 15 opening.

Do you have a neighborhood business you’d like EVA to feature in future meetings? Please contact Jenifer Goldsmith at evassociation.president@gmail.com.

Future EVA meetings will continue to occur on Wednesdays at 7pm at Roots. The next meeting is on April 10. We hope to see you there!
